Intraocular Pressure

This test measures the pressure inside the eye. High intraocular pressure can be associated with glaucoma. It is usually performed on those over 40 or with glaucoma in the family. There are several instruments to measure the intraocular pressure.

The Pulsair blows a little puff of air on to the front of the open eye to measure the pressure.

This is the gold standard for measuring eye pressure however anaesthetic eye drops have to be used. A small probe is then placed onto the eye to measure the intraocular pressure.
